Taroudant is often called the little Marrakech, but it has a character of its own: a working market town of the Souss valley, almost entirely enclosed by ochre earthen ramparts several kilometres long. Its two main squares and its souks are far less touristy than those of the big imperial cities, which makes it a great place to see everyday Moroccan life.
South-east of Taroudant, the village of Tiout sits at the edge of a palm oasis below the ruins of an old kasbah on the hill, with views across the Souss plain to the Anti-Atlas. This private day trip combines both, at the pace that suits you.
Pickup from your accommodation in Agadir and nearby resorts, usually around 8:30. Return in the late afternoon.
This is a private tour: the vehicle, the driver and any guide are reserved for you and the people travelling with you. You will never be combined with other travellers, and the pace, stops and timings can be adjusted to suit you.
The day mixes a drive through the agricultural Souss plain, a walk in the medina of Taroudant and a visit to the oasis of Tiout. Your driver can take you around the ramparts by car and drop you close to the souks, then wait for you while you explore.

Drive east through the Souss plain, one of Morocco’s main orange- and vegetable-growing regions.
Circle the walls, then explore the souks, the Assarag and Talmoqlat squares and the craft stalls at your own pace.
Your driver can suggest a local restaurant in Taroudant.
Continue to Tiout for a walk at the edge of the palm grove and a view from the kasbah hill.
Drive back to your accommodation.
Around 85 km, or roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by road each way.
Yes, if you want an authentic walled market town with fewer crowds than Marrakech. It is one of the easiest cultural day trips from Agadir.
Taroudant has small traditional tanneries near the ramparts. Tell us if you are interested and your driver will include them if they can be visited on the day.
The tour includes a private driver. A licensed local guide for the medina can be requested and is quoted separately.
