Paradise Valley, Agadir: Practical Guide (Best Time, Swimming, Access)

Natural rock pool in the gorge of Paradise Valley near Agadir

In short: Paradise Valley is a palm-lined gorge with natural rock pools in the Atlas foothills, about an hour’s drive north-east of Agadir. It is best visited from late winter to spring, when the water is highest, and early in the day before it gets busy. Allow half a day.

Where is Paradise Valley?

Paradise Valley lies in the Ida Outanane area, inland from Aourir, on the road that climbs along the Tamraght river towards Imouzzer Ida Outanane. The road is paved but winding. From the roadside parking areas, short paths lead down to the pools.

When to go

  • Late winter to spring: the river and pools are usually at their fullest after the rains.
  • Summer: warm water for swimming, but more visitors, and the pools can drop in a dry year.
  • Autumn: quieter, but water levels can be low before the first rains.

Early morning is the most pleasant time of day: cooler temperatures, softer light and fewer people.

Can you swim in Paradise Valley?

Yes, when there is enough water. There are no lifeguards, and rocks can be slippery, so swimming and jumping are at your own risk. Check the depth before entering the water.

What to bring

  • Shoes with grip for the rocky path
  • Swimsuit and towel
  • Sun protection and a hat
  • Cash for drinks at the small cafés

How to get there from Agadir

There is no direct public transport to the pools. Most visitors come by car or on an organised excursion. With a private half-day tour, your driver picks you up at your accommodation and you choose how long to stay. To add the waterfalls of Imouzzer, choose the full-day private trip.

Is Paradise Valley worth it?

For a short nature escape from the beach, yes: the contrast between the palm-filled gorge and the dry mountains around it is striking. Keep expectations realistic in late summer, when the pools can be shallow, and avoid the middle of the day at weekends if you prefer a quiet visit.
