Essaouira is a fortified port city on the Atlantic, whose medina is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its 18th-century layout, sea ramparts with bronze cannons and busy fishing harbour full of blue boats make it one of the most atmospheric towns in Morocco.
From Agadir, the road follows the coast north past Taghazout and Tamri, then crosses argan forest, a landscape you will see nowhere else in the world. With a private driver you can stop at viewpoints and at a women’s argan cooperative on the way, and spend as long as you like in Essaouira.
Pickup from your accommodation in the Agadir area, usually around 8:00. Return in the evening.
This is a private tour: the vehicle, the driver and any guide are reserved for you and the people travelling with you. You will never be combined with other travellers, and the pace, stops and timings can be adjusted to suit you.
You will have around four hours in Essaouira, enough to walk the ramparts, the port and the main souks, and to enjoy lunch. Your driver does not guide inside the medina, but a licensed local guide can be arranged on request.
